Memories

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I agree. Pictures are some of my favorite things. So many memories and thoughts brought about by an image. My room is covered in photos of everything from childhood pets to holidays celebrated with my favorite people. Instead of having things to bring memories, pictures can have the same effect without causing clutter. Social media can even be a public album for us.

Things have been used to bring joy, but they aren’t the only things that can bring it. I love my souvenirs, but I don’t have that many. My souvenirs are normally small things that I try to use regularly or carry around a lot. If they bring so much joy then why are they always out of sight? Our memories should not be boxed up because we will soon forget about them.

Having my memories out makes me feel like I can look at my life spread out. They bring me happiness and help me through hard times. Memories can bring you strength. When it comes to minimalism and pictures, I feel like they go together. There is a TED Talk by The Minimalists called “The Art of Letting Go.” If you have a second, you should really check it out. This talk gave me the whole idea of pictures and what they can do. Minimalism is about holding on to what you love, not throwing everything you have away.
